If you catch a cold because of the rainy weather, grandma will advise you to stay in bed and have some freshly squeezed orange juice or lemonade. But for those that have to go to work, she can put in a thermos some chicken soup so you can drink this and make you feel better by the time you get home.

Should this turn into a cough, grandma will probably advise you to apply Lobelia or Blue Vervain over the chest. These two are herbs that can be found by visiting the supermarket instead of checking the shelves for cough syrup.

Diarrhea happens when the individual decides to eat something that was not good for the tummy. Grandma’s advice will be to sip some vinegar or chew the fruit and leaves of either the blue or bilberries. Popping a bottle of soda and drinking it can also do the trick.

Insomnia can happen because you are drinking excessive amounts of coffee. Whatever the reason, Grandma can help give you a good night’s sleep by letting you drink some chamomile or lemongrass tea. You will have to go down to the grocery to get it or you can plant these in the garden. It is advisable to grow a few to save the trip so this can be plucked from the ground, boiled then sipped.

Work or school related stress can give anyone a migraine. When Grandma sees this, she will surely make you go in front of the stove and let you inhale the fumes coming from the mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. You just have to breathe it in a number of times so you will feel better.

Accidents can happen in the kitchen. If you burnt yourself, Grandma will recommend applying some lavender oil. Those that cut themselves can stop the bleeding by applying some sugar and putting on a bandage.

Grandma may not have the answers for everything but she can give some good advice on the problems mentioned. The recommendations are safe to use and has been practiced for years so you can probably pass this information along to the next generation. After all, you want to leave a legacy behind to your children one day so its best to learn a thing or two about alternative health remedy options available.
