Buying organic foods is considered to be more important than before. This is after studies have confirmed that the practice of inorganic farming seems to be dangerous to our health and the many health benefits of organic foods.

In order to control the problem, the Department of Agriculture has issued a directive urging farmers to stop the old practices and go back to organic farming.  This involves banning the use of genetic engineering, irradiation and sewage sludge and replacing this simply with crop rotation. Since this move is very costly, the government for its parts has decided to shoulder part of the cost.

The good news is that a lot of farmers have welcomed this method.  You will notice that there are a lot of these goods sold in the supermarket these days and there is a special section where you can find these items.

Studies have pointed out some health benefits with regards to organic produce.

Children are able to get more anti-oxidants, CLA, Omega 3 and vitamins when the milk comes from pastured grazed cows. This means, healthier bones and stronger muscles.

Fruits and vegetables that are grown through organic farming have 50% more nutrients and vitamins which will decrease the chances of a person suffering from a number of diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain cancers in patients.

The best part of all is that these are safe for human consumption since threes no longer have harmful chemicals or substances that will enter the bloodstream since these are not present in raising the livestock or growing the crops.

Given these facts, it is time to learn a few tips when you decide to buy these from the grocery store.

When you say the organic section, you should check the label and read what ingredients were used in preparing these products. Sadly, you will never see that it is 100% organic since this is grown in the same soil as inorganic products. The best you will get should read 50% to 70% organic.

This should also have a seal of approval from the Department of Health, Quality Assurance International, California Certified Organic Farmers and the Oregon Tilth Farm Verified Organic.

After these are purchased and brought home, these should be washed before it is cooked. These still may have some harmful substances or residue from animal waste and it’s hard to tell by just looking at it so you should take the proper precautions.

There is no doubt what organic food can do for you and your family. You can read up on this by visiting the web or listening to the news when there are findings posted by the Agriculture or the Health Department.
